Average gas prices go up locally; goes down nationwide

The average price of a gallon of regular unleaded gas in the Killeen-Temple-Fort Hood area was $1.86 on Saturday. That’s two cents more than last week and 40 cents less than this time last year, according to AAA.

Local prices

In Killeen, the cheapest gas was selling for $1.66 per gallon on Saturday at two Walmarts at 1380 Lowes Boulevard and 2900 Clear Creek Road, and H-E-B at 2511 Trimmier Road, according to GasBuddy.com.

The Sam’s Club at 600 W. Central Texas Expressway on Saturday was selling the cheapest gas in Harker Heights at $1.63 per gallon, according to users of GasBuddy.com.

On Saturday in Copperas Cove, gas was selling for $1.76 per gallon at Murphy USA at 2712 E. Business Highway 190 and Texaco at 2102 South Farm to Market 116, GasBuddy.com users reported.

Gasoline was $1.67 per gallon on Saturday at two AAFES stations, including 52021 Tank Destroyer Avenue and 48830 Clear Creek Road, according to GasBuddy.com.

State, national prices

The statewide gas price average is $1.86 which is the same as last week and 45 cents less than a year ago, according to AAA.

The national gas price average is $2.17, which is two cents less than last week and 49 cents less than a year ago, the AAA website showed.
