Police have arrested and charged a member of the Mongrel Mob with drug offences in Far North Queensland.

Officers executed a search warrant on a Spence Street residence in Bungalow yesterday where the 21-year-old man was arrested.

The man has been charged with twelve counts of supplying dangerous drugs, possess dangerous drugs, possess property suspected of having been acquired for the purpose of committing a drug offence and possession of property suspected of being the proceeds of an offence under Drugs Misuse Act (mobile phone).

He has also been charged with breach of bail conditions and is expected to appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court today.

During the search it will be alleged cocaine, cannabis, cash, prescription medication and scales were seized.

A 20-year-old woman has also been charged with possessing dangerous drugs Schedule 1 drug quantity of or exceeding Schedule 3 but less than schedule 4, possess property suspected of having been acquired for the purpose of committing a drug offence, supplying dangerous drugs and possession of property suspected of being the proceeds of an offence under Drugs Misuse Act.

She will appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court on November 26.

Far North District Regional Crime Coordinator Acting Detective Inspector Kevin Goan said police remain steadfast in their commitment to addressing the threat of serious and organised crime to keep the community safe.

“If you are a member of a gang and wish to engage in criminal behaviour, we will be unrelenting in bringing you to justice,” Detective Inspector Goan said.

“I encourage anyone with information relating to those involved in criminal and gang activity to contact to contact police.”
