Senate Judiciary Committee to Consider Cannabis Legalization Plan, Judicial & Governmental Nominations

Trenton – The Senate Judiciary Committee will meet on Monday to consider the legislation, S-21, that would implement the plan legalizing adult-use marijuana, among other bills, and to act on judicial nominations and re-nominations, as well appointments to state boards, commissions and authorities.

The in-person committee hearing will be will held on Monday, December 14, 2020 in Committee Room 4, 1st Floor, State House Annex, Trenton. The interviews for the nominees are scheduled to begin at 10:00 AM, and consideration of the bills is scheduled to begin after 11:30 AM, following the conclusion of all interviews.

Senator Nick Scutari, the chairman of the committee, said the hearing is being held “in-person” because that is the best way to conduct more than a dozen interviews for important judicial and governmental appointments. Strict safety protocols will be followed.
